This Friday’s workout has something for everyone.  Rowing and sort-of-but-not-too-heavy thrusters for the big guys, handstand push-ups and L pull-ups for the little guys.  CrossFit demands and develops well-rounded fitness.  Twins is a great test of an athlete’s well-roundedness.  It’s like two workouts in one.  Try it, and tell us which one’s the evil one.

CrossFit Fenway Endurance 2011:  Running is a skill.  Just as with any other movement in CrossFit, instruction and practice are necessary to improve.  The CrossFit Fenway Endurance program is a supplemental, 8 session course that will be held on Saturday mornings at 9 AM, beginning August 20th, and running through early October.  This course is for anyone who wants to work to improve their skill.  Over the 8 sessions we will cover Pose running technique, and supplementing your CrossFit training with endurance programming.  Space is limited, so contact Eric for more information and to reserve your spot.

FIGHT GONE BAD 6: Registration for Fight Gone Bad 6 is open.  This year the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, the Infant Swim Resource, and Camp Patriot are benefiting from the fundraising efforts.  We’ll be running heats at CrossFit Fenway on Saturday morning, September 17th in lieu of an invasion workout.  Athletes of all abilities are welcome, and encouraged to sign up, fundraise, and join in this great community event as a part of the CrossFit Fenway team.

Did the excitement of the CrossFit Games get your competitive juices flowing?  Well you’re in luck!  The North East Fire Breather Festival, the first event in the new North East Garage Games Series will be held at CrossFit New England on Saturday, September 24th and Sunday the 25th.  There will be 3 events on Saturday with RX and scaled divisions (men and women competing in the RX division must be able to clean 155# and 105# respectively, 115# and 80# in the scaled division). There will be 2 additional events on Sunday for those that qualify.  All abilities and ages are welcome.  Register here and let your coaches know if you’re interested in putting your training to the test.

  1. 30:41 — 1 AbMat HSPUs, 66# thrusters (started at 80#, that didn’t last long) and dead-hangs. Overall I wasn’t thrilled with my performance…


    I tried d/u’s with the RevRope for the first time, and all I can do is grin and wonder WHY I didn’t try this sooner. SO much more fun than single-double-single with the old-school plastic ropes, and within about 10 minutes I’d gotten up to 25-30 CONSECUTIVE d/u’s for the first time ever. Very pleased.

    1. Wow! Nice work on the DUs. I’ve had a revolution rope for ages, and typically only string together 10-15 at time. You’ve got the gift….

  2. so i’m sort of glad today wasn’t in honor of anyone, because i have my own person i’d like to honor. monday afternoon, a 22 year old kid i went to high school with was found dead in his parents’ house with multiple gun shot wounds. the death has been ruled a homicide, and appears to be non-random. a 2007 graduate from my high school and a co-captain of the hockey team, joe ronan planned to join the Marine Corps, set to head to parris island for training in september. he touched the lives of many, and his death has left the Reading community shocked and shaken.

    so although it wasn’t the most honorable performance from me, for you, kid. may you rest easy.

    35:12 with 1 abmat, 30kg thrusters, and dead hangs. not my greatest showing, but i’m pleased i made it through all HSPU and all the dead hangs.

  4. I suspect BOTH twins are evil, but I had to scale so much, I’m not sure which one was worse.
    32:47 w/45lb dumbbell presses, 40kg thrusters, and green band on the pull-ups.

    This one was much harder than I thought it was going to be.

  6. 28:30 with 1 abmat, 45 kg thrusters and dead hang pullups…too much scaling to feel great about it…but on the other hand it wasn’t a train wreck like Badger was 😉
