Toughen Up

We often program workouts with low reps, or light weights and encourage you to go unbroken.  We want to see you go fast, be your best, and “fight against the bad feeling,” developing physical and mental toughness.  Wednesday we’re taking it a step further than encouragement, and adding motivational consequences.  A 6 burpee penalty every time one of the sets of light weight deadlifts is broken up.  While it may suck in the moment, think of the strength you’ll be developing, and that the rest of your day will seem easy by comparison.  You’re welcome.

March 9, 2011

Overhead Squat 3-3-3-3-3

3 Rounds:
18 Deadlifts (60kg/45kg)
400m Run

*Hands cannot leave the barbell once a set begins
*6 burpee penalty every time hands come off the bar

The 2011 CrossFit Games season begins March 15th! CrossFit Fenway, CrossFit Southie, and CrossFit New England will be taking turns hosting The Open events. The workouts will be held at 1pm on Saturdays starting on March 19th.  We are expecting to have over 100 athletes competing every weekend (register to compete here).  Scaling will not be allowed.  Certified Level 1 athletes will be asked to judge as well as compete.  If you are a Level 1 Coach but don’t plan on competing we could use your help judging, as well as the assistance of any other willing volunteers to keep each event running as smoothly as possible.  Please e-mail Eric if you need further information about competing, judging, or volunteering

Paleo meal delivery is now available at CrossFit Fenway from Paleo Comfort Cuisine.  Place orders by 9 PM on Sunday for Monday delivery at 5 PM, or by 9 PM Wednesday for 5 PM delivery on Thursday.  These tasty, prepared meals eliminate any excuses between you and clean eating.

  1. OHS: 28.5kg

WOD: 7:58 @40kg. I originally wanted to do 35kg, but i’m glad my math skills were off and brought me up to 40. After finishing though I really wish I had just gone for Rx…hindsight is 20/20.

  2. OHS: 55kg. Failed after 2x with 60kg.
    WOD: 7:58 Rx

I think I have a cold coming on, because I just felt out of it today and really fatigued. Or maybe it’s still the “Blake” hangover.

I was AWESOME watching Jen do one-handed deadlifts. Hardcore.

  3. OHS- 65kg
WOD- 8:10 Rx @ 60kg … i think my deadlifts were a little slow because i was too busy staring at Papachristos 🙂

      1. Less drooling, more lifting; no loafing.

7:50 Rx. Congratulations to the ALL-RX 7:30 class, and the NO BURPEE morning sessions (all 4 classes)!

  4. OHS: 50kg for 2. this is a 10 KG pr over the last time I did OH squats in December.

WOD: 9:28 RX. I was surprised how much of my running stamina I lost over the winter.

WOD: 7:29 at 40kg. I’m upset I didn’t Rx it… I definitely could have, but was unsure going into it because of the number of DLs… next time!

I wish there was a “Like” button on here — some of these daily comments are great!

  6. OHS: 70kg
    WOD: 6:42 rx

The 6 pm class was at a competitive advantage due to absence of Eric P-related distractions.
