The Chief

A great thing about Crossfit is that it holds a certain different place and serves a certain different purpose in every individual’s life. At CrossFit Fenway we have an awesome community of almost 200 members. Within this community is almost 200 individuals who CrossFit for their own reasons. For some it’s a career, a lifestyle, and a state of being. Others want to stay in shape or get in shape like never before. Some come to reach lifelong goals. Others simply want to get huge for summertime. For some its stress relief for a bad day, a bad week, bad month, or even year. And many come for the camaraderie, the friendship, the friendly place to shed blood, sweat, and even tears with like minded people. No matter what the reason is we can all agree its a kick ass way of staying fit, and it changes lives one day at a time. What is your reason? Why do you CrossFit? Take some time and think about this. What does CrossFit mean to you? No matter how big or small the meaning of your answer, be self aware with it.

“The Chief”: A benchmark like none other. Mix a barbell movement in with some bodyweight stuff and create a timed interval. Go as hard as you can for 3 minutes knowing you have a minute to rest after. No excuse for breaking during the work. Can’t get any better than that.

Seems like Crossfitters all over are taking advantage of the warm weather this week to get outside and run. I didn’t mind, as it was almost 60 here in Chicago today.

See you fine folks next week. For those of you doing Game Day 2 on Saturday, hit it hard!

  3. one-arm chief – 4 rounds in all 5 cycles

    3 DB power cleans @ 40#
6 one arm pushups with a green band
    9 squats

    Have a great weekend!

  4. Sadly I won’t be at CFF today, but wanted to weigh in on Aaron’s rhetorical question.

I CrossFit because I never feel more alive than after finishing a brutal WOD or reaching another PR. Day-to-day life in the cubicle farm can get pretty soul-crushing; CF keeps me out of the rut.

I CrossFit at Fenway because of the people. I never would have imagined a year ago that I’d have the luck and opportunity to meet and get to know such an amazing and diverse group of friends. Simply fantastic.

    Get after The Chief!

  5. This has been a huge week for me. I got my first Pistols on Wednesday, destroyed my previous Annie time by 9 minutes, and perhaps my biggest milestone of all this week, was able to RX The Chief.

    8 rounds total. 2,1,2,1,2. RX

Can’t believe how far I’ve come in only 6 and a half months.

    1. Nice work Neal! It’s been fun hanging around after my class to watch you guys crush your WODs. Hopefully my yelling and no-repping helped. Keep killing it, buddy.

  6. Tried 35kg on the bar and couldn’t get the reps. Pissed…
    2/4/4/4/5 – last 4 rounds at 25kg.

Aaron – enjoyed your posts all week!! Good stuff.
There are dozens of reasons why I CF at CFF…Scrappy, amen sistah!

  7. 4/4/3/3/3 with 35kg and an abmat under my chest to try to fix my wormy push-ups.

Jen, you are an inspiration! You ARE a one-arm chief 🙂

  8. Hotel Travel WOD:
I modified Chief with what I had; subbed Squat Clean Thrusters 25# DB (heaviest in hotel) for Power Cleans.
    5/4/4/3/4
