Strength Only


Wednesday we’re doing something we haven’t done much of, we’re going strength only.  There will be a warm up that includes skill development, but the rest of the class will be dedicated to moving heavy stuff.  The chosen method for moving said heavy stuff will be the front squat.  We’re going to thoroughly review this movement, then head for the platforms, and hit some PRs.  We’re setting you up for success, with a rep scheme designed to help you find a new one rep max, and plenty of time to work through it.  Be sure to take plenty of rest between lifts, and root on your classmates, on this big, heavy Wednesday.

Skill: 2 rounds:
10 Overhead squats
10 Pull-ups
5 Handstand push-ups
3 Turkish get-ups each side
5 Moon the sky
3 World’s greatest stretch each side

Strength: Front Squat 5-5-3-3-1-1-1

Programming Note: There will only be 2 classes Thursday, April 15th, at 6:30 AM and 6 PM.  These will be similar to the invasion workouts, in that there is no attendance cap, and you don’t need to sign up.  Be sure to keep checking the blog for any additional scheduling updates.

John Lackey’s on the bump for the Sox in Minnesota on Wednesday, looking for his first win as a member of the team and trying to help them avoid losing the series.  Since the Sox are away, we’ve got parking all day.

  1. increased my one rep front squat from 80 kg to 100 kg in about 3 weeks. i must say i am pretty proud of this..
