Straight Forward Madness

Everything in Tuesday’s program is straight forward (we’ll see what the coaches throw out there for skill work/warm-ups).  5 sets of 5 reps on the press.  Not a lot to it.  Maintain that midline, move the face to keep the bar path vertical, and take 2 or 3 minutes between each set.  For conditioning it’s burpee madness (also known as death by burpee).  One movement increasing in number each minute.  All you have to do is get on the ground, you will get back up.  This workout is all about force of will, and if this past Saturday was any indication, you all have plenty of that, so let’s see how far you can go with this one.

November 9th, 2010

Strength: Press 5-5-5-5-5

WOD: Burpee Madness

*Complete 1 burpee in the first minute, 2 in the second, 3 in the third, etc. until you can no longer complete the required burpees in the minute.  Score is rounds completed.

On April 23, 2010, CrossFitter and Games athlete Amanda Miller passed away after her battle with melanoma. In memory of her life and friendship, Dave Lipson wished to give back. 1. Justin- I’m JT’s old college friend with an affiliate out in San Diego. 3 words that will help your progress with the press- ring handstand pushups. I added 10lbs to my max press in 2 weeks after being stuck at 160 for a year.

      Good luck.

  1. Press- Got 32 for 5, and then 34 for 2…and then 3…so…new 3 rep max.

About 6 weeks ago, my 1 rep was 35, so I’ll take it.

    WOD- 14+12. Buck Furpees.

  2. Press — 30kg. Not thrilled, but at some point that was my 1RM so I’ll take it for 5.

    WOD — 15 rounds + 15. Having flashbacks of the 100 days…

          1. I’m in. Do all the doubleunders have to be unbroken?

Eric P – I’m calling you out. Get on board with this!

          2. We are working towards 30 doubleunders unbroken.

Until you get 30 in a row, you just get 30 total. Once you get 30 in a row, you have to work towards that number plus the date.

  3. I made too much of a jump on last round- got 3 up at 37KG-
so beat my 3 R max of 35kg a few weeks ago-

Burpees- 15 + 15, (did not fully stand up on the last one- took a rest on that set!)

Great Job Zander- I watched you take it slow at beginning and then turn the cardio on when needed… I think that was a good strategy for you! I went probably to fast and got winded thnking 20-30 secs of rest was better, but maybe just going steady until you have to turn it on is a better approach… I suggest trying Zander’s Method!

  4. Press: 35 for 5.
    19 Rounds + 14

Slow and steady up front helped a lot. So did the tip to land with your legs wide.

    Fun morning, thanks all!

  5. Madness indeed. Zander, nice job!

    Press: 53 kilos, failed at 57. =/
WoD: 13 rounds + 9. That was a lot harder than I had hoped for.

  6. Press 40 kg (failed @ 43 kg w/3 reps)

    Wod 15 + 12

This is my first opportunity to congratulate all the participants and spectators who represented CFF properly this past weekend. I wish I could have been there and I’m glad everyone rocked it! Congrats all.

  7. Press: 3x24kg. I wanted to use my legs SO BAD. I don’t remember what i did for the full five…something less than 24.

Death by burps: 15 + 14…and a half. Yes, i’m counting half a burpee, i was on the ground when time was called!

And mad props to my burpee queen of a sister, who repped out 18 + 15. It was a sweet 2xSheeds sister challenge!
