RyanHMaplewood, Missouri Firefighter, Ryan Hummert, 22, was killed by sniper fire July 21st 2008 when he stepped off his fire truck responding to a call. He is survived by his parents Andrew and Jackie Hummert.

Generally we do named benchmark workouts on Friday.  Tomorrow we’ve got our first Friday Hero Workout, Ryan.  You can read JT’s thoughts on Hero Workouts here.  Hero Workouts are intended to go beyond the test of a benchmark, to be very difficult, posing a true mental and physical challenge.  Tomorrow’s workout will also be the first time muscle-ups are programmed in a metcon.  Don’t worry if you don’t have muscle-ups yet, as there are a lot of ways to adjust for it, all of which will help you work towards developing the skill.  This workout will be challenging, and at times it will probably be frustrating, but give it your all in Ryan’s honor.

Complete 5 rounds for time of:
7 Muscle-ups
21 Burpees

Each burpee terminates with a jump one foot above max standing reach.

Christina Nikitopoulos and Jim Cushing are participating in the Hoppin’ Mad Mud Run on Sunday, May 16th at 11 AM in Amesbury, MA.  It’s a 10K run that includes military obstacles.  This is a great chance to put all of your hard work to use in a fun, challenging event.  Please let us know if you’re interested in participating, so we can help get everyone in contact.

The Red Sox are home Friday and the MFYs are coming back to town.  There won’t be parking at CrossFit Fenway, as Josh Beckett takes the mound and attempts to help the Sox even the season series.

    First Muscle-up today (dead-hang). Scaled to jumping MU for the workout: 25:38.

    Did anyone do this as Rx?

  2. Yes, so far Mike L and Steve have done the workout RX, 26:08 and 23:07 respectively.

    Nice work had by all the morning Classes!!

  3. 16:38, BUT not even close to RX! I spent 3minutes trying to get into a muscle up, didn’t come close… so I scaled to Jumping Muscle Up.

    Kick ass job to Mike and Steve and Logan on the muscle ups – truly great stuff!
