Pushing the Limits of Thruster

Wednesday we’ve got 5 sets of 5 reps programmed to see how heavy you can get with a thruster.  The thruster covers a long range of motion, as the weight is taken all the way to the bottom of a squat, and driven all the way overhead to lockout through explosive hip extension.  We aim to improve our ability to move large loads, long distances, quickly, and a max effort thruster certainly allows us to express this work capacity.

We’ve also got a short, heavy metcon for Wednesday.  Check out this video shot at our box featuring Stacey, Pat Padgett, and James Hobart (on air guitar) demoing this one (WMV/MOV).

  1. Thrusters: 61.5kg
WOD: 5:56 @ 95lbs – opted for lighter weight to try to get sub- 5 mins but as usual, I was gassed after the first round; silver lining – entire first round unbroken and evne though I was slow, 2nd and 3rd round of burpees unbroken…..

  2. Thrusters: 65kg
WOD: 11:41 Rx. – I should have scaled down. That weight was just too much for me. I felt defeated by the end of it.

Great job noon class and especially to Chris for destroying this one in 4:26.

    1. Nice job on thrusters and don’t be too hard on yourself about the WOD – at Rx that would have taken me 20 minutes! & Chris, way to kill it!
