Open Update

This past Saturday at CrossFit Southie was awesome.  Thanks to Amy and Chris for all their hard work hosting the first event.  Our own Joe McGhee had the score of the day, posting 377 reps (that’s over 8 rounds) in the Double-under/Power snatch AMRAP.  At this writing that puts him in the top 10 in the Northeast region, and in the top 60 worldwide.  It was great to see so many of you competing and supporting each other.  I’m always proud of the way CrossFit Fenway represents.

 

As you may know, the deadline for registering and submitting results for the week 1 workout has been pushed back to Sunday, March 27th at 8 PM Eastern.  What does this mean?  If you were considering registering, but hadn’t yet, you now have an extra week to do so, and complete the workout.  If you’ve registered, and tried the workout, you now have a week to try it again and see if you can improve your score.  This also means there will not be an Open event hosted by one of the three participating affiliates this coming weekend, so unfortunately we’ll all have to wait an extra week for more screaming, sweating fun.

    WOD: 7 rounds even with a 24″ box and a 10kg plate and 2 abmats on the handstand push-ups. These need some work — using a 10kg plate kinda feels like sandbagging and using a 5kg plate kinda feels impossible…

  2. after having a violent stomach bug yesterday stacey was nice enough to warm us up with lots of burpees (including 360 burpees). Nothing like getting your day started by almost throwing up during warmup, strength, and WOD.

    WOD: 8+1. Did HSPU with an abmat and 5kg plate for two round. Switched to 25# Dumbbell Presses for all the rounds after that.

    WOD: 6 rounds plus 32 reps (HSPU’s with 1 abmat).

    A big ‘you rock’ to those who got 8 or more rounds Rx–very impressive!

  5. DL: 60 kg, limited by cast-hand grip strength
    WOD: 7 + 18 w/20″ box and 30# then 25# DB presses

    Congrats again to all of our competitors this weekend – you made us all proud!

    DL: 100kg – really need to work on grip strength
    WOD: 5 + 17 (first time facing a box after the injury)
