Okay, I was going to talk about how today we practiced deadlift technique, working towards a 5 rep max, and tomorrow we will be taking what we learned today and applying it to a metcon used during the 2008 CrossFit Games that includes deadlifts.  However, I saw an ad that I had to talk about.

With a New Year upon us many are setting life changing goals, including losing weight.  If better nutrition is part of your plan you can now head for the border, according to Taco Bell.  Check out this article from the LA Times about the Drive-Thru Diet.  The best paragraph in the article is the last:

In any case, healthful eating should not be all about the calorie counting — consumers could theoretically cut their calories in half while on a steady diet of milkshakes and pizza (that’s right, you can even apply the Zone diet to milkshakes, pizza, Twinkies, and ice cream if you want – but that doesn’t make it good nutrition). Maintaining a healthy diet also requires keeping track of those pesky vitamins and minerals, which come from a balanced intake of vegetables, fruits, nuts and other protein (sounds familiar).

One final note, I’d steer clear the link to the USDA’s revised food pyramid, and go with something closer to this Paleo pyramid.  The USDA is getting better, but they’re still pushing what our country grows best, wheat, corn, and grain.
