The inspiration for Wednesday’s blog comes from Mandy, considering our recent 1 rep max tests:

Following a performance based program like CrossFit, numbers can become the driving force behind many of our workouts.  Having a numerical goal can be excellent motivation, but the numbers can also create a mental block, and hold us back.  If you’ve ever plateaued at a certain weight your physical strength may not be the issue.  Obsessing over a particular number can psych us out, and create artificial sticking points in our progress if we let it.  If you notice yourself getting into this habit, maybe try building up to the number differently than usual, with different warm-up weights, sets, reps, or rest. If you catch yourself over analyzing the weight and doubting yourself remember that you’ve been working hard and getting stronger.  Trust yourself to move the weight and your body will deliver.  In the end, they’re just numbers.

    WOD: 4 rounds + 2 wall climbs…Proud to be getting over my fear of being upside down! (pull-ups w/2 reds)

  2. Had a fun sheedy v. sheedy morning today!

    HBBS: 60kg PR, but I definitely had more in me. I don’t think I have a recent 1RM, so I was going at this one sort of blindly.

    WOD: 5+7 Rx. Boy do I hate wall climbs.

  3. Travel WOD @ CrossFit Pinnacle in Ocala, Florida

    3 Rounds:
    400m run
    2 rope ascents (15′)
    25 pushups
    50 squats

    15:07 Rx

    Rope ascents were fun, but the resulting rope burn is not. Need to work on pushups a bit more, but overall was a pretty fun WOD.

  4. LBBS: 75kg (PR)
    WOD: 3+11 (2 reds)
    Wall climbs killed my wrists, but thx to Stacey, I finally made it all the way, chest-to-wall, for the first (and second, and third, and fourth…) time.

  5. 305 on the HBBS and 4 rounds on the WOD. But I found out there’s CrossFit in Vermont! I will be visiting CrossFit Champlain Valley next week and checking out there box. I’m very excited! I will be sure to represent CrossFit Fenway well!

    1. Woah, there’s a CrossFit in VT now? I grew up there 😀 Yay now I have somewhere to go when I visit my family! Thanks for the tip!

  6. Mandy’s post was very applicable for me today – I’ve been having an issue with getting beyond 50kg for my back squat and it is absolutely mental. I didn’t quite get there today (48), but I addressed some form issues and psyched myself up for the mental game. I’ll get there 😀

    WOD: 4+4…more of a whiteboard-climb due to lack of wall…very slippery.

  8. HBBS — 67kg, which is a PR because I’ve never done 1RM before. 70 would have been gutsier.

    WOD — 6 + 3 Rx…wall climbs got SLOW after the 4th round!

    Props to the all-PR 6pm crew!
