No Days Off

No days off.  It’s an idea I’m borrowing from Kelly Starrett.  Some say I’ve already been living it, but as it pertains to fitness and performance, I want to share it with all of you.  No days off does not mean no rest days.  Quite the contrary, rest and recovery are key to continued progress.  No days off means that even on the days you’re not working out you’re still working on improving yourself for tomorrow.  Spend 5 to 10 minutes on mobility and soft tissue work, dial in your nutrition with some food prep, get 8 hours of sleep.  We’ve discussed rest day best practices in this space before.

As I’ve mentioned, big things are coming.  Whether you’re planning on competing this year or not, we are all a part of the CrossFit Fenway team, and we all need to support each other.  Let’s work together, keep each other going forward, and make 2011 a year with no days off.

  1. Nice work by the morning classes – our visitor Kristy from BTB CF Atlanta did an inspiring job tackling the 30″ box!

    Double deadlift PR this morning for me: 140kg x3, 145kg x3.

    WOD was good. Use the harness gadget for assisting your HSPU as needed!

  2. DL – 160KG
    HSPU with 2 ab mats, then dropped down to 1, when hit failure – picked up 40lb dumbells and pressed out remaing reps. Pistols are getting better.

  3. DL 90kg – a new PR by 10kg. Then, with Joe and Mary telling me to just go ahead and break 200#, I did one rep at 92. Why do I love CrossFit? Because I am sitting here typing this thinking “Why the hell didn’t I go for three?”

    CrossFit Games 2014, here I come.

    I can’t come in on Tuesdays, but I love pistols, so I did the wod at home.. but then realized I should not attempt box jumps at home… so after a nice gash to my shin, I did push-ups and somewhat beautiful pistols. Wish I was in class.

  5. DL: 3 rounds at 65kg…my form is terrible so in an effort to save my knees, i kept it at 65

    WOD: 8:40 with banded pistols, 28″ box jumps and 20# press
