It’s finally time! Today, June 1, I invite you to join me in welcoming Vanessa to the team at CrossFit Fenway. She’s a personal friend and a kind bodyworker, and I’m glad she’s getting us started in the treatment room!
Massages are now available Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 1pm until the facility closes at the last class (8pm Tues/Thurs, 7pm Friday). You can see those options on the schedule in the same place where you reserve your classes – so you’re free to book yourself a massage in advance there, or just try to grab an opening when you’re in for a workout.
Prices are $85 for an hour – and Vanessa is offering 15% off for the first treatment here in her first few weeks, to encourage you all to give it a try! Personally, I recommend it. As some of you know, I’m a licensed massage therapist myself, so I’m a firm believer in the benefits of massage and I’m really excited to have someone on staff who can offer you that kind of healing work!
Now, about Vanessa:
Licensed Massage Therapist, Reiki Level I, Holistic Practitioner
Vanessa has a passion for bodywork, energy work and any other type of practice that builds a stronger mind/body connection. A massage therapist and Reiki Healer for 2 years, she specializes in Trigger Point therapy, Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue and Relaxation therapy. She is enthusiastic about seeing people develop a strong and positive relationship with their bodies, and is confident she can help her clients find fulfillment on their journey on the path of holistic health. When she is not doing massage therapy, she is often found breathing fire, dabbling in circus arts or fully immersing herself in yoga. Or sometimes you’ll just find her dancing to music no one else can hear.
In Vanessa’s own words:
“I would like to share my gratitude at being offered a chance to practice my passion of massage therapy at CrossFit Fenway. I have been a body worker and holistic practitioner for 2 years and worked in environments varying from fancy shmancy spas, to chiropractic offices, to franchises like Massage Envy. All have given me amazing learning opportunities and helped me develop the tools I feel I have now refined to work with you. I believe fully in the ability of massage therapy to aid in recovery time from fierce workouts, as well as preventing potential injury from not just workouts, but everyday life mishaps. In my two years as a practitioner, I have watched some of my clients go from not being able to turn their head to one side to have full range of motion in just a matter of weeks of treatment. The ability of the body to heal and become stronger is something that continues to bedazzle and inspire me.
In my spare time, I commit myself to various movement arts – fire spinning, juggling, hula hooping and yoga – so I have learned how intimate and important the mind body connection is within us. I have a deep respect for the type of commitment it takes to practice a regimen like the one at CrossFit and look forward to working with as many of you as possible. Cheers!”
Postscript from JT: I understand that the scheduling system is a little wonky at the moment – I’m working on it, wearing my webmaster hat. If you’re wondering where the regular classes went, use the drop-down menu at the top of the calendar to toggle between “All Levels” (classes) and “Massage”. I’ll have it all working smoothly again in no time. Thanks for your patience!
Update: I think it’s all fixed. Calendar now shows up in a handy “by the month” view. Please do send me an email if you have any problems signing up for classes – or massages!
