Corporal Ryan C. McGhee, 21, was killed in action on May 13, 2009 by small arms fire during combat in central Iraq. He served with 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment of Fort Benning, Ga. This was his fourth deployment, his first to Iraq. Ryan was engaged to Ashleigh Mitchell of Fredericksburg, VA. He is survived by his father Steven McGhee of Myrtle Beach S.C., his mother Sherrie Battle McGhee, and his brother Zachary.

Saturday, December 18th at 89 Oxford Street in Arlington join our gracious hosts Sam and Nathan, as well as more CrossFit Fenway friends in welcoming home the guest of honor Dennis Moriconi.  Dennis is returning home from a semester at sea.  Festivities will begin around 7 PM

CrossFit Newton is hosting a 3 workout team throwdown on Saturday, January 29th beginning at 9 AM.  Teams are to consist of 2 men and 1 woman, all of whom need to be able to do pull-ups and double unders.  The entry fee is $10 per person.  If you’re interested in participating, please e-mail Jodie Cohen from CFN.

    a. Awesome work, 5:30!
    b. I watched Justin lap me during one set of my deadlifts, which was kind of awesome in its own way. I need to work on those.
    c. I worked really hard to not reset my feet during the box jumps and that went really well.
    d. During one round of said box jumps I remembered that today is my six month CrossFit anniversary (which is funny because box jumps used to be my nemesis, and as I was stringing them together on the 24 I was remembering how impossible singles used to feel on the 20). Every single day I can’t believe how far I’ve come and I absolutely couldn’t have done it without you guys. And I mean it from the bottom of my very fit heart.

    1. Awesome work Jen! What did you mean about “not resetting you feet” during box jumps. Wondering if I might be able to learn and improve my box jumps from that.

        Well, I’m just really bad about stringing together box jumps like the big kids. I always land, shuffle my feet back to my starting position and then jump again. So I’m trying hard to get to just rebounding as soon as I land.

    Excellent job to the 530ers (and the 630ers). It was a fast 30 minutes, believe it or not.

  3. 13 rounds + 1 deadlift @60kg and 24″.

    I think I did the first 5 rounds in 5 minutes, then it took me 24 minutes to do the next 7 rounds, and I finished the last round in 1 minute. Hmmm. Maybe need to work on strategy for my next 30 min amrap!

  4. 8 rounds + 13. Would’ve liked to get more rounds under my belt, but decided that I would do ALL of my pushups normally, rather than from the knees. So, this was my goat today. I spent several rounds doing 1 pushup at a time, but I’m glad I did it.

    This one was kindof fun, in a sweaty, tired way.

    Also, hit my 5 x hand stand push up goal last night. 24 hours before the deadline. Thanks for the encouragement.

  6. Had some time constraints so worked for 20 min.:

    12 rounds @ 60kg. Could/should have worked heavaier deadlifts. Pushups were the killer!
