Goal Setting

Goal setting is essential to keeping us motivated, and achieving our goals is a sign of our hard work and dedication.  While peoples’ goals may range from achieving their first pull up or muscle up, shaving time off of their 5k, or just looking better in that new pair of jeans, there are more attainable goals to keep us motivated on a daily basis.

There is a lot to be said about the mental side of crossfit.  Being mentally stronger doesn’t require us to lose weight  or put 20kg’s on our squat.  We can set daily goals to push harder in workouts.  Those goals could be as simple as not resting on burpees, not going to the chalk bucket or touching your water once the workout starts, or telling yourself that every time you pick up the kettle bell that it won’t get put down until you finish the set.  These goals break down mental barriers and are just as fulfilling as setting a PR.

  1. DL: 70kg, but i was definitely using my legs this time and NOT my back, so i’m hoping i’m starting to get my form down. i failed at 75kg, which i know i can do, at least with bad form, so looks like i need to get stronger with good form now!

WOD: 8:13 with hand release instead of clapping. my doubles are good but my push ups SUCK 🙂

  2. DL: 80kg (PR). I know that I can do more.

WOD: 10:01 with singles and hand release push ups. I REALLY REALLY need to get doubles. Stacey gave me a hint today that might just get me on my way. Practice, Practice, Practice.

  3. DL: 125kg (PR for sure–I’ve been working on DL form and they felt great today)

WOD: 10:43 (subbed 35# DB presses for pushups due to elbow strain)

  4. DL: 77kg (PR!)
WOD: 11:17…psyched to manage doubles…sloppy hand release pushups though…shoulder explosion after the doubles.

  5. DL — 105kg, 2x BW and a PR

WOD — 9:01…got about 8 claps in and was falling flat on my face each time, switched to hand-release

    6pm post-WOD break: “The Clap”

  6. DL – 130kg. seem stuck at this weight, no matter the rep count. getting a little frustrating.

WOD – 13:4? rx. doubles were slooowwwwwww
