Giving Thanks

Everyday I consider myself very lucky and thankful to have the best job in the world, and to be part of an amazing, inspiring, encouraging community.  I’m thankful for the opportunity to coach, work, and workout with great people.  I’m thankful for my health, and to have a kind, caring, beautiful, very understanding, young woman supporting me.

Too often we focus on the negative and what could be.  This is the season to be thankful for what we have.  Take a moment to reflect on all that’s gone right, and been good this year.  What are you thankful for?

  1. Bench: 85kg, failed @90 x 4
    WOD: 19:00

I’m thankful for finding a gym where the trainers and other members provide community and inspiration on a regular basis. So thank you everyone! Happy Turkey Day!

    1. Well said! I hope everyone and their families have a happy and healthy Thanskgiving and I look forward to burning those extra calories off next week!

  2. Bench: 35kg, which was my 3 rep a few weeks ago. Got 40 for 2, so probably could have gone somewhere around 37-38. But felt better than last time (and felt progressively better each set), so I guess I’m finally starting to get the hang of it.

    WOD: 26:40 Rx.

Not gonna lie- a 20″ box would have been much nicer. And/or a 14# ball.

  3. Bench: Fail @ 75kg x4

WOD: 26:16 (legs gave out early on 24″)

I am thankful for the first few seconds at the beginning of today’s WOD when I was actually ahead of Justin…

Seriously though, I am very thankful for the finest 15 (plus) minutes of my day. Happy Thanksgiving, all.

  4. Hi friends! This year I am so, so, so thankful for CFF and all of you!

I’ve already flown south to hang out with my parents, so I won’t see you today. I like BK’s suggestion of posting our travel WODs – do it!

Much love and don’t eat too much,

  5. Wow today was a good day… because I wont be working out tomarrow cause of the holiday I decided to push it today…
    WOD 1: “Jackie” w/ a 20 lb. weight vest 10:19
WOD 2: as RXed w/ 20 lb. weight vest 27:38

  6. Hi all,

I haven’t bench pressed since h.s., and it wasn’t pretty, 29kg, and my shoulder might be mad at me.

    I loved the WOD – Rx’d at 22:34 (I think it was that/roughly..).
Legs will be burning the next couple days!

Happy Thanksgiving to all – thanks for being such a great supportive group of people!!!

  7. bench: 105kg
    wod: 14:42 rx w/30lb ball

travel wod starting tonight at 8pm: 6 shots of patron, followed by some fist-pumps at midnight. long wod, should go til about 4am.

  8. GTL — 40kg, failed @ 42 x 4. Need more Ron-Ron Juice.

    WOD — 19:08Rx. Psyched.

It’s been a year of ups and downs (aren’t they all?), but one thing I am extremely thankful for is the community I’ve found in CFF. You guys are probably the only people on Earth who understand what this place means to me. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving all!

  9. 40kg, failed at 44×4
WOR: 18:31 rx. Great job, 5:00 pm class. Such fun. Today I’ll be thankful for being part of such a great group. My time at CFF certainly is the finest 15 minutes of my day.

  10. Travel WOD update!

I did 12 rounds of hang power cleans with dumbbells at 25% bodyweight, 30 seconds on and 30 seconds of rest. And totally frightened the old guy who came into the fitness center when I want grunting through my 11th set. Then yoga, and now food.

  11. Bench: 55kg (Failed @ 60×4)
WOD: 19:49 Rx (Fun, but tough on my legs)

    Todays pre-turkey-mini-WOD:
    100 sit-ups: 6:30 (slow but steady pace)

  12. I like Pope’s title so ill steal it,
Black Friday Wod (in a golds gym so I got weird looks)
    Deadlift:5x5x3x3x1x1x1: 355 lbs
    5 rounds
    10 30″ box jumps
10 Ring push ups (on a TRX suspension system)

  13. “travel” WOD aka I went to a CrossFit at home:

    10 thrusters
    50 sit-ups
    8 thrusters
    40 sit-ups

    8:08 with 63# thrusters.

But!! We did some rope climb practice and I made it up 20′. That was pretty awesome. And I’m starting to recover from the 7 hours of sitting Wednesday night on the train.

  14. 3 rounds for time:

    50 air squats
    25 hands-up push-ups
    50 sit-ups

12:54. Situps fell apart faster than usual without the AbMat.

  15. 5 rounds:
    10 burpees
10 TTB (which I discovered just today that I could do!)
    10 squats with heavy dumbbells

A guy came in while I was doing TTB and asked if I was training for the circus.

  16. Friday WOD:

50 Thrusters (95#) for time: 10 minutes (I need people yelling at me apparently–go figure!).

    Saturday WOD:

    Version of the row/max rep pull-up: run a 1/4 mile, max rep pull-ups, repeat. AMRAP 20 min: 174 pull-ups.

  17. LSD (Long Slow Distance) day — between 10.5 and 11 mi. This was my first small taste of what marathon training during the winter is going to be like…time to support the economy and buy some decent cold-weather gear.

  18. Travel WODS:

    Boths in strange DC locations.

    The first:

    three rounds of
    – 30 push ups
    – 30 air squats
    – 1 lap around the National Cathedral Cathedral(my guess… ~400 meters)

    The second:
    warm up:
    – 60 double unders
    – 20 pull ups
    3 rounds of
    – 500m row
    – 30 pushups

I did this one at the Tindley Sport and Athletic Center in DC. I might have had a Kramer-esque incident with the swiftly spinning, low hanging ceiling fans and my jump rope.
