Garage Games

The first event of the North East Garage Games Series, the North East Fire Breather Festival is this Saturday and Sunday, September 24th and 25th at CrossFit New England.  We have several athletes representing CrossFit Fenway in both the scaled and RX divisions.  These folks have been training hard, putting in extra effort, and consulting members of the CrossFit Fenway staff for guidance.  If any competitors need assistance in their final game day preparations, please speak with one of the CFF coaches for pointers.  I want to make sure our athletes get the same great support our community has always provided.  I know I’m looking forward to being there on the other side of the rope this weekend, cheering hard, and doing whatever I can to help, just as those competing have done for me several times over the last couple of years.

  1. Speaking of the Garage Games, prep day —

Working on 1RM OHS, got to 39kg and know I can definitely get to 40kg, maybe 42-43kg.

    WOD — AMRAP 9
    1 hand-release push-up, 1 thruster @ 65#, 1 toes-through-rings
    2, 2, 2…and so on

    7 rounds + 12 reps

A big thank you to all of the coaches that have fielded my incessant questions about competing, standards, what to eat, etc. You have been a tremendous help, and I apologize in advance for the fact that questions will continue through Sunday.

  2. Dude, Joe’s gettin’ old.

I know I’m looking forward to **ERIC** being there on the other side of the rope this weekend, cheering hard, and doing whatever he can to help.

WOD: scaled to 50kg for thrusters. 6 full + 13 reps. Woof.

  3. A biiiiiig Happy Birthday to coach Joe!!! He’s so old.

Also I second Eric to Scrap’s comment…happy to answer any questions and am so excited to watch you!!

  4. haha i still have tons more questions about food and standards, etc. that some lucky coach(es) will have to field from me tomorrow and/or friday. but likewise, thanks for all the help so far! you guys are awesome.

I worked with Scrap on 1RM OHS, got to 37kg and failed at 39kg due to a really imbalanced rack jerk that i couldn’t recover from. i’m hoping to get to 40 on saturday!

    WOD — AMRAP 9
    1 hand-release push-up, 1 thruster @ 65#, 1 toes-through-rings
    2, 2, 2…and so on

7 rounds even. getting the kip down for toes through rings will definitely help speed things up!

    1. Don’t forget the epic win that was the Fish Game Warmup. FYI to the crowd, rowing while laughing doesn’t work.

Happy Birthday Coach Joe, and welcome to your late 20’s!

  5. Sumo deadlift: 60 kg — still have a ways to go with my form

WOD: 6 rounds + 10 reps with 1 red band (first time only using 1 red band so pretty happy about that), 23kg thrusters, and burpees.
