Football Gone Bad

Football season ended last Sunday night, but we’re going to try and hold onto that gridiron state of mind for one more day.  Football Gone Bad was programmed on July 16, 2010.  Between then and now, think of how much fitter, more skilled, and what better understanding you have of each of these movements.  Consider this as you set your goal score and prepare to reach it.

WOD: Football Gone Bad

In this workout you move through five stations for one minute each for three rounds.  A one minute break is allowed between rounds.  The stations are:

1. Dumbbell Thrusters (45#/35#)
2. Box Jumps, 20″
3. Push-ups
4. Double Unders
5. Calorie Row

The clock does not reset or stop between exercises. On call of “rotate” you must move to the next station immediately.  One point is given for each rep.

CrossFit Fenway has a few teams entered in the Charles River CrossFit Grand Opening Tournament this Saturday, February 12th.  Events are set to kick off at 9 AM.  If you can make it out to Needham, there’s plenty of free parking, so head over and support our teams in their snatch, clean and jerk efforts.

Help defend our title.  Nominate CrossFit Fenway as the Best Health Club in Boston in the Boston Phoenix 2011 Best Poll. Go here and fill in CrossFit Fenway in the text box next to health club (once a day per e-mail address).  Be sure to complete the survey by hitting the submit button, followed by the finished button, entering your name and e-mail address, and then hitting submit, otherwise your nomination won’t count.

Paleo meal delivery is now available at CrossFit Fenway from Paleo Comfort Cuisine.  Place orders by 9 PM on Sunday for Monday delivery at 5 PM, or by 9 PM Wednesday for 5 PM delivery on Thursday.  These tasty, prepared meals eliminate any excuses between you and clean eating.

  2. Wrist Gone Bad – thanks to Haley for modifying!

    Score: 310

    One arm thrusters @ 35#
    box jumps
    KB press @ 12kg
    Sit ups
    KB SDHP @ 16kg

    Awesome work today, 5:30!

  3. While my performance was dogshit today, “I am glad and proud” to say that my wife destroyed her last score by 70 reps!

  4. 204 reps @ 30# dumbbells. double unders sucked today. was hoping for a big score here, but couldn’t put big strings together. big thanks to zander and scott for your help and pushing me to get more reps

  5. July 2010: 144
    February 2011: 237
    (both with 25# DB thrusters)

In July, I got a 0 on my first round of box jumps and around 10 total double-unders. I’m still not where I want to be, but am on the way.

Kudos to all of the 5:30’ers and to all of our mod-WOD crew!

  6. This was fun!! (in an almost puking, self mutilation kind of way)
208…which felt like a lot until everyone else started putting their scores up.
Definitely think I could have gotten more reps on the push press and double-unders.
    Have a great weekend folks!!

  7. I agree with Rachel – this was the most fun you can have while nearly puking.

    July 2010 – 153
    Feburary 2011 – 254 Rx!

A 101 point increase, and upped the trusters to 45#. Significant gains in double-unders, push up, and box jumps. A true testament that this stuff really works. Thank you coaches for pushing me day after day.

Next FGB – going for 300.

  8. 470 RX

Haven’t done it before, but when I first joined the gym I was unable to link double-unders. I got 72 in one of my rounds, so clearly an improvement from where I would have been. Thanks to Scott and Niel for the cheers and no reps.

    1. Also, following the gaming post yesterday, Edmund gave me a good tip: you can crank out many more box jumps, DUs or pushups in one minute than you can Thrusters or calories. I used those as recovery time.

  9. With the close to 200 push-ups I’ve done in the last 48 hrs, I’m beginning to think “CrossFit: Cheaper Than A Breast Lift” should be a mainsite marketing technique.

  10. July 16th total score: 220 with 35# dumbells

February 11th total score: 301 Rx (I’ll take the 81 rep improvement, thank you very much)

Thanks to Mary for counting my reps!
