Euro Trip

In addition to working towards a 3 rep max back squat on Thursday we’re also taking on events 1 and 2 from the 2010 European Regional for the CrossFit Games.  Event 1 is the run.  Event 2 is the total reps of ground to overhead you complete in the remaining time.  We’re a kilo gym, and because this was a European qualifying event the loads used are in kilos, so no messing around with conversions.  This one speaks our language.  Joe and Aaron gave it a try, and did so well at the ground to overhead portion (38 and 37 reps respectively), they decided to move to Europe in order to have a better shot at qualifying for the 2011 CrossFit Games.  If you’re traveling over there, and come across an area that needs CrossFit, please let the guys know.

October 14th, 2010

With a 15 minute running clock:
2.5k Run
Max reps ground to overhead (70kg/50kg)

***No Invasion this Saturday, October 16th

Work on your agility, coordination, and balance.  Join your CrossFit Fenway friends at the Havana Club in Central Square on Saturday, October 23rd at 9 PM, for a night of salsa dancing, socializing, and fun.  Lessons and libations are available to help you learn the moves.  Like any WOD, proper footwear can help performance, so try to avoid rubber-soled shoes that will grip the floor and make turning more difficult.

The Beast of the East throwdown at CrossFit New England is Saturday, November 6th.  Our athletes are getting ready.  Mark your calendars, and get ready to come cheer on your CrossFit Fenway teammates.

Compete in the most physically demanding obstacle course available on Saturday, November 13th in Marshfield at Ruckus Boston 2010Stephanie Schneider is helping to organize the CrossFit Fenway team.  Please contact her if you’d like to participate, as discounts are available for teams.

  1. LBBS: 140kg
WOD: not sure on run time, 25 reps Rx

Also, I looked on crossfit.com to see the run times of the European regional competitors and there is no way they ran a 2.5k. The fastest time was under 7 minutes and the slowest was just under 9. This makes the scores Joe and Aaron had even more impressive, they would have been 1 and 2 if they ran the (soft) Euro distance

  2. LBBS: 53kg…Probably could have gone heavier, but apparently my grip was too wide and my shoulders were hurting…

    WOD: Run was about 13:55, 5 reps @ 30kg.
I’ll take it. The run wasn’t great, but the pacing wasn’t bad, so win!

Also, I still don’t see anything wrong with my t-shirt suggestion of “Have you seen my snatch?”! I think it’d look great on some nice pink T-shirts.

  3. LBBS: 60kg but I should have been a little lower.

WOD: 11:50 run then 20 reps of 25 kilos.

The air force PT test is a 2.5km run (actually its an American 1.5 miles, but pretty much exactly the same distance) and according to their scale, everyone in the 6:30 class did a great job!

  5. LBBS: 115kg
    WOD: 9:35 run then 14 reps @60kg

Finished the run in a decent time, then wasted over a minute changing into my weightlifting shoes. Somehow I thought it would be a quick change and would significantly help with the Oly portion of the WOD? I deserve to get made fun of for that. Spent the remaining 4 minutes struggling with the C&J, even at a scaled down weight. Overall a very disappointing day.

    1. I won’t mock you since you still did better than me. Just think of it this way- if you had done the run in your weightlifting shoes, you would have lost a lot more time than 1 minutes.

    2. If I ever see you changing your shoes in the middle of a workout, I will not only mock you, but I will hit you repeatedly with a foam roller. COME ON MAN!

      1. And I would deserve it, too. Lesson learned.

Stacey was outside while I was wasting all that time, so she wasn’t around to throw things at me. Part of me thought, “I bet Stacey would be yelling at me for doing this.” Maybe next time I think my coach would probably be yelling at me for something, I should change what I’m doing, even if the coach isn’t actually there in person…

    3. c’mon.. don’t give sandon even more of a reason to call you the lady gaga of crossfit for all of your footwear changes 🙂

sad i missed this one today… i dropped in for a visit at CF southie though and had fun climbing their ropes.. and doing my first rx wod with chest to bar pull ups.. 57 of them!

  6. LBBS: 90kg (new PR for 3 reps)
WOD: 20 reps @ 50kg (finished the run in 10:22)

Great programming. Loved the warm-up too.

  7. LBBS: 120kg
WOD: 17 reps @ 60kg (Finished run in just under 10 minutes. Forgot exact time)
Overall a fun day. Great running weather.

  8. LBBS – 41 kg. Squats are fine, but i had a real hard time getting comfortable with the bar placement.

WOD: 9:10 for the run and then 25 reps at 25kg. should’ve gone heavier, but i had no idea where i should’ve been.
