Double Helen

It’s almost like a triple Helen!  Well, at least it feels that way (even with autotune).  This was the first event  of day two at this year’s CrossFit Games, the second event overall.  The first round alone encompasses all of the reps found in the standard Helen workout.  Mercifully, the reps go down to only twice as many as normal in round two, and round three is classic Helen.  By comparison, it’s not as bad as Eva.  Just keep pulling, swinging, and putting one foot in front of the other to chug through it.  At least you don’t have to go for a 1RM shoulder to overhead within 90 seconds after finishing.

  1. I have been wanting to do this WOD since I watched it online in july during the crossfit games. My goal today was just to finish faster than the slowest competitor at the games which I did. Most of the guys were sub-20, the winner (and eventual winner of the games) finished in 16:59 (holy fuck), and the slowest finish was 25:41.

    WOD: 21:35 Rx

    1. dude, that is a sick time!!! considering you’ve been working out all week, and you still finished in 21! Super impressive!

  2. 23:35 (12 kg, bands)
I have to work on scaling properly– I probably should have slogged this one out closer to Rx. On the upside, mornings at CFF are great, and I may be a covert. Happy Friday!

  3. i’m just happy i was able to finish this one.. 28:40 Rx

also, big thanks to sandon for scaring the hell out of me this morning and proving that i’d be totally helpless in the event that someone tried to mug me 🙂

    1. Ha! Last night when I had to run around the block it was dark out and I was a little weary. Then I remembered that I was a viking and was holding a sledge hammer, so, problem solved!
Hard to fit one in your purse though.

      1. haha! i was still half-asleep, walking toward the gym when sandon ran up behind me (he was mid-WOD of course), stole my water bottle right out of my hand and kept on running.. of course, i thought i was being attacked.. great way to really wake up at 7AM.

  4. 26:14 (20kg KB)

I cheated myself this morning – should have gone Rx. That first round of 63 swings scared me into picking up a 20kg KB. In hindsight I probably still could have beat 30 minutes with the heavier bell.

Either way it was a great workout with some great energy at the 7:30 class.

  5. WOD 21:00 rx

couldn’t have done it without having some killer benchmarks in our 5pm class!

Stacey – you owe me that reward… i’m waiting!

      1. stacey made a bet with me that I couldn’t beat her “protege”… so i made sure to turn up my run on the last 400m, kept up with Yosh suprisingly, and didn’t break many of my kb swings and pull-ups.

if i didn’t have your time to beat, my time would have been about 23minutes… i really turned it up on the last set.

tomorrow is going to be a monster of a workout – all out!

    1. Stacey,

Eric recently discovered a crack addict’s addiction to Chocolate almond butter. Get him a TUB of it so I can beat him next WOD!!!
