Death by Clean & Jerk

Also known as Clean & Jerk Madness, this workout can be done with just about any movement, and we’ve previously programmed it here with pull-ups, burpees, and 10 yard sprints.  The weight should be challenging, but manageable.  Move as quickly as possible through each round and there’s a little extra rest waiting for you before the next set begins.  Although this one starts slow and easy, don’t be deceived.  There will come a point at which it will suddenly seem very difficult to get the next rep.  This is the time to dig in and push for a little more, you just need to know you can.

August 16, 2011
Strength:
Deadlift 5-5-5-15+
(ideally final set is 60%-75% of best set of 5 for max reps)

WOD:
Death by Clean & Jerk
(60% – 70% of 1RM clean & jerk, not exceeding 62kg)
With a continuously running clock perform 1 clean & jerk in minute 1, 2 clean & jerks in minute 2, 3 clean & jerks in minute 3… etc. until the required number of clean & jerks cannot be completed within a minute

    1. Thank you girls, miss you all! Anni crossed the Atlantic ocean today, I think she will be in Boston for the weekend and maybe join you for an Invasion. =)

  1. Did WOD #1 of the open with 85# snatch got 4 rounds + 20 DU

then after I kinda broke your rule above not going over 62 kg
I did Death By C&J at 70 kg
got 7 rounds just as the buzzer sounded got another couple reps after that but was smoked to get the 7 just in under the buzzer…broke the rule because I hit a wall doing Death by with 62kg of 10 rounds + 6 reps last time so Im trying to go higher weight to break through the barrier

  2. Hey- special shout out to Howard for pushing me last Friday with the killer WOD. I was so ready to give in and reach for a band. The encouragement was definitely what I needed to finish. It is so important to keep pushing eachother, and I really appreciate the support!

  3. Deadlift: 97kg x 5, 60kg x 16 (Really like this rep scheme!)
WOD: 10+9@30kg (Not sure what percentage that is but it’s somewhere between 60 and 70…)

  4. Day #2 at CrossFit Pinnacle

Warm up WOD: ‘Griff’ – 10:39
I think this beats my previous time by about two minutes, so I was happy with it, especially in this 90+ degree heat.

    5 min rest

    WOD: AMRAP 10
10 KB Power Swings (Russian Swings w/a hard swing on the way down as well)
10 Plyo Push Ups (w/a 4 inch plate)

    7 + 14 w/1 pood swings

Great crew down here in Florida. I will be back in Boston Thursday to attack the WOD nice and early.

  5. in an attempt to get back to my running roots every now and again, i did a track wod today!

    warm up: 10:30 jog
    6x400m with 200m/2minute walk/jog in between each
    1:25, 1:23, 1:22, 1:26, 1:26, 1:25
    cool down: 10:30 jog

these times are on par with what i was expecting, although it felt awful due to asthma issues and tired legs from squats and box jumps yesterday. good to be back out on the track though!

  6. DL: 5 reps at 58 kg, 25 reps at 43 kg

    This was a fun WOD!
10 + (between 8 and 10) at 22 kg. By the 11th minute I lost my ability to count.
