      1. i dropped her at MGH, she was walking fine and in good spirits but i havent heard since. (To all: we had a little shin vs. box situation in the 5:30 class)

  1. First off, the Original Gangsta award goes to Julie D. for taking that gash like a champ. Heal quickly!

2 rds + 56. This was with a 24″ box and unassisted pull-ups(as opposed to green box w/15kg plate, purple band in July). I realized during my ride from CFF to work that my push-presses were at 27kg, NOT 32kg as intended. I’m pissed that I was that spaced out/distracted; bet that mistake won’t happen again.

  2. 3 Rounds + a box jump at the buzzer. 30 Kg push press. Purple and red banded pullups. First attempt at kipping during a WOD.

  3. WOD: 22 box jumps RX. Ha!

Well I am out of the ER and just got home. The verdict: 6 stitches and the x-rays showed no damage to my shin bone. The folks over at MGH all gave me the same confused face when I explained that this happened because I was jumping on top of a 2-foot box at 5:30 am 🙂

A million thanks to pretty much every single person in the 5:30 and 6:30 classes whom all offered to drive me to every hospital in the greater Boston area! A special thanks to Justin for taking me over to MGH and also to Stace for helping me out with all the supplies and talking me down from really freaking out after seeing my own shin bone 🙂

At the end of the day, the fact that this happened during a hero wod really puts it in perspective. Six stitches are small peas in the grand scheme of things. I am supposed to have them in for 14 days and was specifically instructed to take it easy working out — meaning that, in an incredibly ironic twist, I will be getting some great practice on those HSPUs in the next two weeks!

Thanks guys, see you tomorrow night!!!!

    1. I would have LOVED to see the reaction of the docs/nurses to the explanation of what happened. Glad they fixed you up, take care of yourself this weekend!

    2. Julie! Much love and a quick recovery! Wish I was there to be your nurse today! We’ll miss you guys this weekend. xoxo

    3. When I was in Greece this summer I was walking on a pier submerged in water and my leg slipped on the slick wood and I scraped my shin all the way into the water. I was alone and sat in the water staring at the white on my shin for 5 minutes before swimming 1 km. back to the beach.

You’re lucky you had cars and people with you when this happened!

Wow, Julie, you’re amazing. I hope the pain isn’t too bad!

    2 rounds plus 62…
24″ box, 25kg push press, green band.

First Hero workout and it felt great (I’m usually not in Fridays)

  5. 3 Rounds + 34. One day, maybe I will have Yoshspeed.

Thank you for your service, Danny, and I hope you heal up soon, Julie.
