This Friday we’re giving everyone a chance to take on the first workout from the 2011 CrossFit Games Open. These workouts are designed to allow anyone to participate and prove their fitness. This is done by making range of motion accommodations for individuals who don’t have light weight bumper plates, providing a prescribed weight in kilos as well as pounds, and even allowing for ground to overhead any way (although snatches are the listed movement, and faster). All the info you need on this workout is available here, and we’ll definitely be reviewing in class. Give it your best shot, and see how you stack up against the rest of the world.

We’ve been nominated! Again! Help defend our title. Vote for CrossFit Fenway as the Best Health Club in Boston in the Boston Phoenix 2011 Best Poll. Go here and select CrossFit Fenway (once a day per e-mail address). Be sure to complete the survey by hitting the skip to finish button, entering your name and e-mail address, and then hitting vote now, otherwise your vote won’t count.
The 2011 CrossFit Games season is underway! CrossFit Fenway, CrossFit Southie, and CrossFit New England are working together to host The Open events. We are expecting over 100 athletes competing each Saturday at 1 PM. Scaling will not be allowed. Certified Level 1 athletes will be asked to judge as well as compete. If you are a Level 1 Coach but don’t plan on competing we could use your help judging, as well as the assistance of any other willing volunteers to keep each event running as smoothly as possible. Please e-mail Eric if you need further information about competing, judging, or volunteering.
WOD: 3+10 Rx
My first Rx WOD with DUs (it went single, double, single, shit, single, double, etc)
Good luck to all the competitors tomorrow.
3 rounds + 20 rx.
In the first round, I strung together 20 double unders and had 15 nice unbroken snatches. Directly afterward, it went all the way downhill into a fiery pit of the double/single messiness and broken rounds of c&j… which is to say, good luck tomorrow everyone!
Nice, Julie!
2 rounds + 37 rx
No clue what happened here…just couldn’t keep it in high gear for 10 minutes.
I love Dan’s description of DU’s! Mine had a lot more shit, shit, shit!!!
I should have gone RX instead of 20kg because I only touched the bar twice because the DU’s took FOREVER!
2 rounds + 29.
GOOD LUCK to EVERYONE TOMORROW!!
Go CFF!!!
3 rds + 37 reps Rx-ish (C&J’s all the way)
It’s amazing how inefficient the single-double-single routine is. Thanks Coaches for programming the Open WODs on Fridays so we can all get in on the fun 🙂
I’ll be gone for the next week and a half due to travel and my (first ever) marathon, and miss you all already!
good luck scrap, go get em’
Good luck on your run!! We’ll be cheering you on! So proud of you.
WOO!!! good luck!!! kick some ass!
have fun, scrap! you’re gonna kill it!
Of course I’ll be there tomorrow to see CFF crush it at the Open…rest up, A-team!
WOD: 3 rds flat (30kg, still need to get DUs – and Stace, i still contend that i did not quit at the end and it was just perfect timing on my part…)
what i’m most proud of today though is running outside for the first time since i hurt my foot. that felt good. (oh, also there’s being admired for my squats. but that also felt kind of weird…)
see y’all tomorrow.
