CrossFit Fenway Worldwide: Zander in Chicago

Our resident poet, Zander, apparently on a break from composing works for the blog, was recently in Chicago.  He took advantage of his time in the Windy City and met up with old friend Nathan Jokel for a workout at CrossFit 847.  They may not be overhead squatting each other, but at least they’re both repping CrossFit Fenway with pride.  Thanks for the photo Z.

  1. OHS – 80kg (85kg x 4 – I was able to stand up on the 5th rep. but then completely lost control of the bar)
    WOD – 10:34 Rx+ @ 40kg

    1. “Completely lost control of the bar” is a charitable description 🙂 The first four reps looked awesome though!

    WOD — 12:52Rx, it wasn’t pretty.

    Time to rest up; Sunday I’m running in the Marine Corps Marathon, which ends with a charge up the hill to *take* the Iwo Jima Memorial! Words cannot express how grateful I am for all of your support, coaching/guidance and friendship. Catch you on the flip side.

    1. The course looks similar to when I ran it back in 2007. The hills are all in the first 8 or so miles (except for the last 0.2 miles!). When I ran it in ’07 I went out WAY too fast. So my advice to you is, DON”T GO OUT TOO FAST! Have a great race and enjoy yourself!

  3. 45kg- OHS- felt solid and not too stressful

    WOD: 11:13- subbed Up downs with a jump for burpees- fun workout- fun to actually get in this week

    1. Also, Nathan and I had a great time at 847. If you’re in Chicago you should look him up. I’m sure he’d love to say hi.

  4. OHS: 30kg which i think might be a 5 rep PR?

    WOD: 14:13rx, but with a 15 second handicap cuz my rower turned off right about at the 1 part of 3,2,1,go.
