CrossFit Fenway Worldwide: Scandanavian Connection

David and Anni e-mailed a little while back, and I wanted to share it with the rest of our community.

Hi Eric,

Long time, no Boston.

We visit the CFF site every now and then for inspiration and, well, you asked for it.
Crossfit Fenway Worldwide: Linköping ([‘lin: shû: pĭng]), Sweden.

We’ve been doing weekend Invasions as often as possible with our friends here in Sweden. We did our 17th session (starting in May) last weekend with 8 friends. It is so much fun and it has been really appreciated. It is mostly bodyweight stuff, but sometimes we bring equipment (like our homemade Bulgarian bags =)

But off course, nothing beats the CFF Invasions. We really miss you all!
If anyone in the CFF-community ever has any plans of going to Sweden, please let us know and we will try to help you out in any way we can.

In all seriousness, thank you for the e-mail and checking in.  I’m very grateful for our entire extended family, and really appreciate the opportunity to work with all of you and make connections like this.

Tabata Something Else

Complete 32 intervals of 20 seconds of work followed by ten seconds of rest where the first 8 intervals are pull-ups, the second 8 are push-ups, the third 8 intervals are sit-ups, and finally, the last 8 intervals are squats. There is no rest between exercises.

Score is total reps from all 32 intervals.

As some of you may know, Devid Kelts’ brother is currently serving in Afghanistan and he’s taking part in collecting holiday cards for hospitalized and injured veterans. The American Red Cross has teamed up with Pitney Bowes in a campaign called “Holidays for Heros” and David purchased a bunch of holiday greeting cards and left them at CrossFit Fenway. Please feel free to sign 1 or 10 of them and place in the envelope, he’ll take care of mailing the bunch Friday, December 9th! It’s a simple way to say thanks and happy holidays to those who’ve lost so much while serving.

The 2012 CrossFit Games season is coming.  CrossFit Fenway is formally beginning our preparations this Saturday, December 10th at 8 AM with a meeting for all athletes interested in competing.  Please e-mail Eric with any questions, or if you would like to participate, but cannot make it.

    Squat Clean: 65 kg.
    today: 276 with purple banded pull-ups
    5/03/11: 264 w/purple

      tabata something else on 1/5/11 – 273 (green band)
      tabata something else TODAY – 361 (2 purple & a bum shoulder)

  2. Dave, I don’t know if you’ll read this, but I totally forgot to ask on Saturday if each card needs to be in an individual envelope. I have a bunch of cards at home that I can fill out and bring in, but should I put them in their envelopes? Thanks!

    1. Hey Rachel – no, they’re not supposed to be individually sealed, just bound together in a single large envelope. So no, don’t put them in their envelopes, they’ll be removed anyways!

      Hey Rachel – don’t put them in their own envelopes, the Red Cross will remove them if done so, so just bring in and add to the large envelope!


  3. Squat Clean: 47kg – PR – Definitely can do more but need to work on elbow speed.

    Tabata Something Else: 334 with Green band and pushups from knees. Arms and shoulders are going to hurt tomorrow.

  4. well, PRed my power clean because i cleaned and then front squatted for one of my reps. my actual squat clean: 45kg

    tabata on may 3: 258Rx
    tabata on dec 5: 341 Rx — i think. this is at least the number i had when i ended, but it doesn’t mean i didn’t mess anything up in between!

    Tabata – 300 with 2 red bands for pull-ups. I liked this one..time flies when your arms can barely move…

    WOD — 379Rx…definitely missed using the crash-mat to hook in on my situps, but this was probably a more legit/truthful score than my January 2011 total of 343Rx.

    Way to go 6pm…tabata-BANG.

  8. squat clean: 70kg..probably not a 1 rep max, but getting better at catching the bar low. maybe this is obvious, but starting a squat from the bottom is a whole lot harder than from the top!

    WOD: 312 rx.
    great 6pm class!
