Bears and Burpees

Tuesday we’re going to try tackling a bear.  Actually you’re going to be doing a total of 15 bear complexes, which breaks down to 75 repetitions of various, familiar exercises (power clean, front squat, push press, back squat, push press, repeat), with 10 burpees between each set for good measure.  We’re using the bear for our conditioning workout, going fast and heavy, but it could certainly be used as more of a pure strength exercise.  In either case your weakest movement will be the limiting factor.

    WOD: 9:10 at 30 kgs. I think I’m better at bear fights than bear complexes.

    WOD: 8:36 at 25kg. after that first round of burpees this really started to suck. mad props to helen for Rxing and putting up a killer bear fight!

    Back still an issue, so I did modified strength and WOD:
    Press (with a slight push)- 26kg
    5 rounds: 5 Dead-hangs, 10 knee tucks, walking lunges 2 lengths – 12:?

    No WOD, strictly a strength day, but couldn’t resist trying the Bear Complex. Did 15 @ 52kg (115#)
    What a crazy movement! Wouldn’t mind seeing this more often.

  5. My first workout with Coach Haley gets a two thumbs way up! Thanks for pushing me along in the WOD, I would have broken up the burpees without you telling me to go for it!

    1. Damn! 170kg for 3! I can’t keep up buddy. Great work. BTW, tried the bear complex at a globo-gym (135lbs – metal plates) – NOT FUN! There is no way that I would have been able to do that Rx with burpees in between. Keep up the good work!
